We had a crazy travel day heading into the city and were super hungry when we arrived at JoJo's shakeBar. The kids instantly remarked on how the outdoor space was fun to walk in to after walking down the streets of Chicago. This summer the restaurant chain has taken on a camp theme with outdoor fun and decor to take you back to your days at summer camp. The inside of the restaurant is a little dark, so the outside is a nice option for those wanting to take in te last days of summer.
Before even ordering my kids had already decided to play a round of cornhole and check out the other areas. We could easily see our table from any of the game areas. We knew right when our drinks arrived as well as our food.
Our waiter was enthusiastic and attentive. We started with an appetizer, JoJo's fries, a favorite of ours. We have tried this before at the Detroit location. Crispy waffle fries topped with three kinds of cheese, bacon chives and sour cream. The size is perfect for a shareable.
We ate a mix of sandwiches, wings and burgers. Food portions were perfect. I enjoyed my Reuben while the kids liked the simplicity of their burgers and wings.
After eating we relaxed at the table and just enjoyed the atmosphere. It was a hot day in the city so it was nice to have a break in the shade and enjoy some outside fun without the heat coming off the sidewalk.
After a few yard games we were ready to try the shakes that Jo Jo's is known for. There were several options for cold, sweet treats. We decided to try some of their seasonal flavors. Their Biggie Shakes are loaded with sweet treats like cookies, marshmallows and cotton candy. The shakes did not disappoint. Honestly, they are large enough to share with all the fixins!
With the outdoor theme changing seasonally we look forard to coming back again to see what they are offering.
Be sure to stop in at JoJo's when you are in Chicago. They do not disappoint.
