Great Parks or the entire family

Parks and playgrounds we love in and around Livingston

By Macaroni Kid Livingston March 17, 2023

We are lucky in Livingston to have so many great playgrounds and parks to explore. From swings to slides, to climbing walls and water features, Livingston's parks and playgrounds have kept my kids active for years! Our area parks are a great place to meet old friends (and make new friends!), and they're FREE!

I often get asked Macaroni Kid Livingston has messages or comments al the time from people asking what our favorite playgrounds are, so I thought I'd share here with you my family's picks for our top playgrounds and parks to visit in Livingston.

Imagination Station

448 Millpond Ln.
Brighton

What we love about Imagination Station:

This is the perfect park for children ages 4 to 10 years old. The Imagination Station is located right in the heart of downtown Brighton. This playground has something for every child to enjoy. A fenced in location that has swings, slides, monkey bars, a jumping bridge, and a variety of climbing structures are all features for children to have fun on. We also enjoy the walking path along the pond, where we can feed the ducks, look for snapping turtles and even fish. After we have enjoyed our time at this park, we love checking out 2 Dandelions bookstore downtown as well as stopping at Oh My Lolli for a sweet treat. (Congratulations to owner Keith Karp who celebrated 15 years in business just last week.)

Amenities at Imagination Station:

  • Bathrooms located right next to the park
  • Picnic tables available
  • Tridge walking path around the pond
  • Drinking fountains

Settlers Park

2835 Clark Rd

Hartland

What we love about Settlers Park:

This park is perfect for children between the ages of 3 and 12 years old. When our family goes to Settlers Park we spend a lot of time on the trail that circles the park; it is perfect for bikes, walking, scooters or even rollerblading. The small bike jump path that they have is perfect for children who want to try "jumping" their bike for the first time. The gaga ball pit is also a big hit for older children.

Amenities at Settlers:

  • Bathrooms located next to the park
  • Drinking Fountain
  • Pavilion
  • Paved walking trail
  • Mountain Bike Trails

Genoa Township Park

2100 Dorr Rd.

Brighton

What we love about Genoa Township Park:

Genoa Township park is the perfect park for children age of 2 and up. What we love most about this park is that there are two separate climbing structures for the younger children and the older children. My children really enjoy the water misting feature that they can push and run through to cool down on those hot summer days. When we are not running on the soccer fields or swinging on the tire swing, we love to bring our kites to Genoa Township Park and fly them on the big hill next to the parking lot. A note for this park, it is a little bit of a walk from the parking lot up to the where the park is. I would recommend making sure you have all of the items you need to enjoy the park when you get there.

Amenities at Genoa Township Park:

  • Bathrooms located at the park
  • Walking Path
  • 2 Athletic Fields
  • Basketball courts
  • Sled Hill-Winter
  • Pavilion with picnic tables

Mchattie Park

S. Lafayette St.

South Lyon

What we love about Mchattie Park:

This park is great for children of all ages! What we love about Mchattie Park of South Lyon, is the large amount of shade this park has. There are so many trees that provide a nice spot to cool down from that summer sun. There is a playground for small children to enjoy separate from the playground for a little bit older children. If you have younger children, the sand area with the digging toys is a fun spot to check out. Mchattie Park also has a Little Free Library that is fun to check out. My children always end up bringing a book with us to leave at the library and borrow a new one. The huge sledding hill is also a fun feature that we love running and tumbling down together.

Amenities at Mchattie Park:

  • Bathrooms located by the park
  • Picnic areas
  • Baseball diamonds
  • Volleyball courts
  • Sledding hill
  • Picnic areas

We hope this list of playgrounds and parks in Livingston, MI helps you find -- or rediscover! -- some fun places for your family to explore. Now get those kids out to play!
