Howell Celebrates Annual Fantasy of Lights

By Autumn J. Moricz November 24, 2023

Add Howell's Fantasy of Lights to your Thanksgiving weekend traditions.

Downtown will be aglow this Friday. Enjoy local dining and shopping, meet Santa and his reindeer and watch an amazing parade.

On State Street there will be plenty to do and eat. Grab refreshments from vendors, pop in to local stores, enjoy live entertainment and, of course, visit with Santa and his reindeer.

BEFORE THE PARADE

The Fantasy 5K race and one-mile family fun walk is like no other. Runners wear whimsical holiday apparel, costumes and lights while racing along the parade route.

THE PARADE

The main event of the evening is the Fantasy of Lights Parade, hosted by the Howell Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation. It has been the official kick-off to the holiday season in Howell for almost 40 years, becoming a holiday favorite for many families.

Our family has attended every year. Back when my daughter was in Girl Scouts it was a troop holiday tradition to build a float for the parade. All of the girls and their families would be involved for weeks leading up to the holiday weekend.

Be sure to grab a hot chocolate and watch all the light covered floats gliding down Grand River along with local marching bands, first responders, special guests and Santa!
