Brighton District Library’s Holiday Open House

'Tis the Season to Be Jolly

November 28, 2014

‘Tis the season to be jolly at the Brighton District Library’s Holiday Open House, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Saturday, December 6 from 11a.m.-3 p.m.  Families will enjoy a special visit from Santa and two of his reindeer, an afternoon of festive caroling and bell ringing, a Celtic concert, wintry tales, crafts, and refreshments.  Admission is free.

The festivities begin at 11 a.m. with a visit from jolly old Saint Nick who’ll be stopping by the Youth Department to meet with children and hear about their wishes and dreams. From 11 a.m.–Noon, there will be a special visit from two of Santa’s magical reindeer, including a new baby from the herd.

Kids are invited to stop by the crafty creation station, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., for make-and-take crafts to help adorn the house throughout the holiday. Then, from Noon-12:30 p.m. and 1 – 1:30 p.m., listen to your favorite wintery tales, read by youth staff.

Tap to the beat of Vintage Strings of Michigan, a ten piece band of local musicians who’ll perform lively Celtic and bluegrass tunes from Noon–2 p.m. Guests will enjoy the sounds of banjo, guitar, mandolin, twin fiddles, hammer dulcimers, harmonica, keyboard and base.

Herald in holiday carols from 2–3 p.m. with the Echoes of Praise Hand Bell Choir from the First United Methodist Church. Enjoy bell ringing and caroling from the choir, an Open House favorite, followed by audience bell ringing participation.

Stop by and enjoy the fun! The Brighton District Library is located at 100 Library Drive, Brighton. For information about the Holiday Open House call 810-229-6571 ext. 223.
