IXL – Stimulating Programs and Curriculum Encouraging Learning Through Experience
IXL Learning Center is a fully licensed and state inspected Childcare Center. We offer full and part time, year round care and education for infants from six weeks to school age children. Our Hamburg IXL location was established in May of 2001 and has been operating with our current owner since 2003. We then expanded to include our Howell location, established in 2008. Shortly after, Birmingham became our third center. In 2013, we simultaneously opened our Northville and South Lyon locations.
Philosophy
Our most fundamental objective is to provide your child with a safe, clean and loving environment. Our teachers show love and respect, while providing children the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of activities and educational experiences.
Programs & Smart Start Curriculum
We provide stimulating programs and curriculum which encourage learning through experience. Children are encouraged to explore their creativity, independence, problem solving skills, muscle development and self-help skills. Lessons are planned based on weekly thematic units that incorporate:
• Michigan Standards of Quality
• Individual, Small and Large Groups
• Phonic Soup
• Handwriting Without Tears
• Specials
Assessments are given periodically to track a child’s growth, and a portfolio is kept for each child.
Staff
Our staff is comprised of educated and nurturing teachers, with educational levels ranging from early childhood field training to master’s degrees. We have certified elementary teachers in our young preschool, preschool, and Pre-K classrooms. All teachers are CPR, first aid and blood borne pathogen trained. We also require a criminal background check on each employee. Our staff is very committed to our families and the center as a whole, creating a very low employee turnover rate.
Other Benefits
• Healthy Meals included in your tuition- We provide a balanced lunch and multiple snacks. Lunch is based on a monthly menu and children eat in a family style setting and focus on manners.
• Good hygiene- Children are taught to wash their hands throughout the day and brush their teeth after lunch.
• Security- Our facility offers limited access doors into the center. We also have a biometric fingerprint scanning system that we use as a computer based attendance check-in system.
• Childcare Daily App- Online application that parents can access throughout the day to see their child’s progress, meals, activities, etc.
• Parent Involvement- Teachers work closely with parents to help ensure that the needs of the children are met, and relationships are created.
• Programs are allergy aware; our center is nut free.
• Gross Motor- We offer a large fenced-in outdoor play area, as well as an indoor gross motor room.
